BioShock Music list

A few weeks ago I was talking about how, courtesy of Ken Levine, I had a list of the ambient music that you come across while playing BioShock. Now that I have found the list again in my office move, I can finally share it:

Title  Artist
20th Century Blues Noel Coward
Academy Award Stanley Black
Avalon Django Reinhardt
Bei Mir Bist Du Schon (means you’re grand) The Andrews Sisters
Best Things in Life Are Free The Inkspots
Brother Can You spare a Dime Bing Crosby
Danny Boy Mario Lanza
God Bless the Child Billie Holiday
How Much is that Doggie Pattie Page
If I didn't care The Ink Spots
It Had to Be You Django Reinhardt
It's Bad For Me Rosemary Clooney
Jitterbug Waltz Django Reinhardt
Just One Of Those Things Lee Morgan
Just Walkin' in the Rain Johnny Ray
La Mer (Beyond the Sea ) Bobby Darin
La Mer (Beyond the Sea) Django Reinhardt
Let's Fly Away Lee Wiley
Liza Django Reinhardt
Night and Day Billie Holiday
Papa Loves Mambo Perry Como
Please Be Kind Django Reinhardt
The Party's Over Now Noel Coward
The Waltz of the Flowers Pytor Llyich Tchaikovsky
This Is A Changing World Noel Coward
Wild Ride Faux Frenchmen
World Weary Noel Coward
Wrap your troubles in dreams Bing Crosby
You're Getting To Be A Habit Harry Edison  Bing Crosby
You're the Top Cole Porter

BTW: I highly recommend the Django Reinhardt tunes.

Anyone want to find these on Amazon and send me the above list with links?

Edit: Thanks to Sam at Amazon who sent me a nice spreadsheet with the above links that link to the .89 song download at Amazon.

You can get an AWESOME Django Reinhardt collection on Zune Marketplace. If Django Reinhardt sounds familiar, his music was featured in Woody Allen's "Sweet and Low Down" with Sean Penn. Andrews Sisters are always a good bet too. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy is a classic.

Wouldn't it be easier for someone to compile a "collection" on iTunes, allowing anyone to purchase with one click?

OR maybe you could get the dashboard to allow downloading of tracks to the hard-drive because there is plenty of games out there that i've thought, why can't we do that?

Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea" ("La Mer" is the name of the original French version) is my fiancee's favorite song. Good use of music in this game, though not the sort of thing that your average gamer would seek out the soundtrack for, I reckon.

I actually really enjoyed the music in Bioshock - it added some great ambience.  I like it when devs go to the extra effort and expense to bring interesting elements into the universe of the game.  Levine's team did so much in this regard - from "pep" bars to signage, to paintings, sculpture and art, to entire art deco production design.  They did an amazing job.

I mean, in GOW, I thought for sure if I passed by the same forlorn painting or victorian couch, I would shoot something, lol ;)

Can't believe MS lost Bioware to EA. Fortunately MS is the publisher of the first installment of Mass Effect, but after that everything is going to the PS3 as well. Say good bye to the triogy, as EA will want some kind of introduction title for the PS3 and not a continuation of a 360 only exclusive. 360 exclusives are starting to get thin.

Some of this music is probably public domain. I know by looking at the list that some of it is from the 40's and isn't fair game yet, but there's bound to be some stuff from the 20's on that list.

Regardless, if interested, you could probably pick most of this up for a very modest price somewhere.

First the Bioshock comment to keep things relevant. I loved the music in Bioshock, seriously. I never figured that a game steeped in 40's era music or somewhere around then would be entertaining, but it truly was and was a stroke of genius on the part of 2K Games. Kudos.

Now the more pressing matter. When the Bungie news came up i couldn't believe it might be true because I couldn't understand how MGS could afford to lose developers in house when the stadium is looking thin. Now MGS has let another developer that has been great to the Xbox brand and the 360 just walk away. I don't anticipate that Major or anyone else that is an MS Talking Head will address this, but as someone who has been a huge fan of the Xbox brand since the beginning you are making it difficult to see the bright side of things. How am i supposed to be happy about this? All i see are lost exclusives or flat out lost titles. Can someone please make this seem better? And for crying out loud can one of you all please tell me when MGS might start to grow and acquire new studios and titles instead of letting things slide away? I know the goal is to become profitable, but how do you survive into the next generation without MGS exclusive games and studios??

I wanna believe Major, please help me BELIEVE!!

exclusives suck get over it. buy your console to play as many games as possible the x360 is still the best gaming platfrom out there right now. the ps3 isn't as suitable for gaming as it thinks it is and the wii barely processes it's own controller fast enough.

Would you really rather have had an unhappy dev make the next halo?  or worse, have all the key talent at bungie walk out and then not have any of the spark that made halo great?  honestly, it's good for bungie and it's good for ms.  Bungie now gets to flex it's wings and since ms is still the main publisher it'll most likely churn out 360 and PC games.
