Mr. Patrick A. Shea
Of Counsel
Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll
Patrick Shea is of counsel to the law firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, where he practices real estate law with an emphasis on mining, environmental law and conservation, and development of publicly-owned lands. He previously served as deputy assistant secretary of the Interior for lands & minerals, and practiced law in Salt Lake City and Washington DC, with a focus on real estate and environmental law. Earlier, he was general counsel for a private communications company (1985-93) and served as counsel to the Senate foreign relations committee (1979-80). A member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a former Rhodes scholar, Mr. Shea was appointed in 1996 to the White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security, and served as chair of the Salt Lake City International Airport Authority from 1987-94. He is also a past chair of the Utah Democratic Party.
