THQ's Avatar Now Available for $20
THQ's Avatar: The Last Airbender has achieved Sony CEA's "Greatest Hits" status for the PlayStation 2. The game is now available at retailers throughout North America for the suggested retail price of $19.99. Avatar: The Last Airbender made its video game debut in October 2006 and finished the year as THQ's top selling Nickelodeon property.

"We are thrilled with the exceptional success of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the achievement of this retail milestone," said Scott Guthrie, senior vice president of North American sales and distribution, THQ. "Last year, Avatar was a completely new property in THQ's extensive Nickelodeon portfolio of titles which includes the top-selling SpongeBob SquarePants game series. It's great to see the brand resonate so quickly with such a significant number of gamers."

"THQ did a great job of bringing the compelling characters and storylines from Nickelodeon's Avatar series to life in a thrilling interactive experience that resonated with gamers," said Shaul Olmert, vice president of digital products, Nickelodeon. "Adding this honor to the brand's success at retail is exciting as we continue to create new experiences for show fans."

THQ is expected to release another Avatar video game this fall. Avatar: The Last Airbender--The Burning Earth will follow the second season of the TV series and is scheduled to release for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 2 system, Wii home video game system from Nintendo, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance.
