17th District Officers Continue to Work for Safety of Neighborhood

These incidents are just a few among many which show the type of good police work that goes on everyday throughout the city.

Aggravated Assault

On 01JUN07 Officers MURRAY and LOPEZ responded to a call of aggravated assault at 3828 N. Bernard. Upon arrival they were able to arrest an OFFENDER attempting to run the VICTIM over with his car after a verbal altercation. Aggravated Assault HN380953 02JUN07 Officers IMPASTATO ands GARCIA responded to a call of a fight at 4119 W. Henderson and upon arrival VICTIM stated he was threatened by OFFENDER with a knife during a verbal altercation. The OFFENDER was apprehended without incident and charged accordingly.

Aggravated Battery

On 05JUN07 Officers AGUIRRE and TOLEDO responded to a call of assist the CFD Paramedics at 4000 N. Bernard. Upon their arrival they found the paramedics engaged in a battle with the OFFENDER who was intoxicated and injured. While rendering aid, the paramedics were attacked by the OFFENDER. The OFFENDER was subdued and transported to the hospital for treatment, followed by the District Station for Felony Charges.

Armed Robbery

Also on 05JUN07 Tactical Officers PARLICH and MEDLEY, on a "WOLF PACK" Mission in the 17th District Deployment Zone, observed an OFFENDER matching the description of an armed robbery. The OFFENDER was stopped and a protective pat down search revealed a look alike toy gun in his waistband. The OFFENDER was brought back for a showup and was positively identified by the VICTIM. Felony charges were placed against the OFFENDER.

Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking

On 18JUN07 Officers SHEPHERD and NIKOLAOU responded to a car jacking call at 3802 N. St. Louis. The VICTIM had been ordered out of his car at knifepoint and the OFFENDER made off with the vehicle. The Officers during their report inquired if a cell phone left in the car had GPS capability to which the VICTIM said it did. Assisted by Officers NAVEZ and MARLO, the report was completed and the cellphone provider contacted and written authorization was made. The Officers then enlisted the aide of Tac Team 1762 led by SGT. DANIELS, who coordinated an extensive search for the vehicle and the OFFENDER. Tact Team Officers PARLICH, MEDLEY, ASKAR, SHERLOCK, BERG and ROGUS were able to find the vehicle at Lincoln and Diversey and, after a short stakeout, were able to apprehend an OFFENDER who was later identified by the VICTIM and charged with Felony Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking.

As you can see, there's no shortage of knuckleheads out there.  We do our job.  We do it well.  Nice work to these officers.  Stay safe.
