Teen Thugs Rob Elderly Citizen At Gunpoint--CPD Catches Them

This information was submitted to us by Officer J. Mirabelli, who thought this was an example of good police work.  We agree.

On July 17th, a 72 year-old man was in his backyard when he was approached by two offenders.  One of the offenders pulled a .357 revolver, pointed it at the man and demanded money.  The offenders took the man's wallet and cell phone and fled the scene.

Officers responding to the call were able to obtain a good description of the offenders and toured the area in search of these thugs.

The offenders were located a few blocks away and, as the officers approached, the foot chase was on.  During the chase, the offenders dropped a few things--including the victim's possessions (which were recovered).   The offenders were taken into custody and the weapon recovered after the short chase.  The victim was able to identify the offenders.

Edward Pugh,17, and Donald Ashford, 19, were charged with armed robbery.  Subsequent investigation resulted in Ashford being charged with two additional robberies.

Because of these officer's quick response and the victim's courage in identifying the offenders, two thugs and their weapon were taken off the streets.

Job well done by all.
