Movies/Scenes Representing Incarnation of God

bulletFace Off (1997)
bulletThe good guy becomes the bad guy. "This is the best film I have ever seen on the power of incarnation." (David Bruce, see review at Hollywood Jesus)
bulletThe Fifth Element (1997)
bulletThe incarnation of God is a woman: after her "virgin birth" she throws herself into humanity and becomes part of it. (see review at Hollywood Jesus)
bulletLeeloo as the Light of the World
bulletSister Act (1992)
bullet"Sister Mary Clarence leads them in their first song in worship. The Reverend Mother chastises her for "Boogie Woogie" in church. The priest intervenes and commends the Reverend Mother for "her" innovative efforts to revitalize the parish. Preaching Themes: incarnation, that Jesus came to be with us as one of us. St. Paul "becoming all things to all people in order that some might be saved." The challenge of the church becoming culturally relevant in order to reach the world, not changing the message but adapting the method."
bulletJesus of Montreal (1989)
bullet"Jesus of Montreal" is the greatest movie on the incarnation in contemporary setting. (Submitted by Ann Fontaine, Lander WY)
bulletAmadeus (1984)
bulletSalieri recognizes Mozart as the Incarnation of God and seeks to destroy him.
bulletTron (1982)
bulletThe movie "Tron," which came out sometime in the 80s, is the story of the Incarnation. A man has created a computer game; in it, characters ask one another, "Do you believe in the User?" The warriors in the program are trying to resist an evil being, but they're losing because REAL evil enters the being and he begins to take over computers in the real world. The "User," watches the game in anguish, saying, "Don't give up guys! You're the best program in the world! I wrote you." Finally, he realizes there's only one remedy: so he becomes one of the characters in the game, in order to overthrow evil. I've used this as a retreat centerpiece several times. (submitted by Kristen Ingram)
