Two Virginia football players have been nominated for prestigious awards.

Defensive end Chris Long is a midseason All-America selection by Sports Illustrated.CNN.com. Long, a senior, has seven sacks and is fourth in the nation with 1.7 sacks per game. He's tied for the team lead with nine tackles for loss and is second with 36 tackles.

Tight end Tom Santi is a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy, presented each year by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame to a player for combined athletic and academic performance and community leadership.

Santi is the Cavaliers' leading receiver with 22 catches for 276 yards and three tochdowns – first among ACC tight ends and 13th nationally. He has a 3.35 GPA as a sociology major and has been an all-ACC academic selection for the past two seasons.
