HISTORY
1987

Back in 1987 a game was released that would change video games for ever.  The game was, of course, Street Fighter and this first game was released with mixed views.  The game used two buttons, one to punch and one to kick.  The longer you held the button down the harder the attack.  This made executing moves quite difficult so eventually Capcom released a six button version which has been used ever since.  The original Street Fighter also included special moves but these were so difficult to execute that many players did not beleive they were in the game.

Look out for some of the characters in this game as you will notice Ryu, Ken, Sagat, Birdie, Gen and Adon.

The Revolution

In 1991 gaming was changed for ever with the release of Street Fighter 2.  A sequel that improved over the original in so many ways.  Using the same arcade board as the classic Final Fight, Street Fighter 2 had excellent graphics and very fluid gameplay allowing the player to execute combination attacts.

The Making of a Classic

Below are some exclusive Street Fighter 2 blueprints that were made before the original Street Fighter 2 coin-op (wow).
(Ryu's Dragon Punch animation)
(Ryu's actual fireball animation)
(Guile's Sonic Boom animation)

The character animations for Street Fighter 2 were very fluid for the time.  The game had more moves than was ever previously available in a game.  Above shows some frames of animation that are used in the game.
