8th District Officers Stop One-man Robbery Spree

Beat 832 was responding to a call of a Robbery In Progress and sent out a flash describing the offender and the vehicle in which he fled.  Beats 822 and 835 were monitoring the flash and responded.  As the assisting units toured the area for the offender, they noticed a vehicle that matched the description in the flash.

As the officers approached the vehicle, they saw a subject matching the description exit the vehicle and attempt to walk away.  The officers approached the subject to conduct a filed interview and saw him drop a number of items to the ground--one of which turned out to be the victim's ATM card.

The offender was taken into custody and subsequently identified by two victims.

Further investigation revealed that this offender had been responsible for a 3-day robbery/car-jacking spree on the southwest side of Chicago.  John Akres was charged with multiple felonies.

Nice way to back each other up.  Great police work.  Our congrats to 8th District Officers:

Stapleton and Clark:  Bt 822

Kim and Ward: Bt. 835

Delia and Aguinaga: Bt. 832

Stay safe.
