Acquired

RSL: Selected in the first round (4th overall) of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft on 1/12/07

Just looking at Chris Seitz, you can tell that the towering goalkeeper is not your ordinary 20-year-old. The stature of the 6-3, 236-pound netminder is surprising, but when combined with quick reflexes and a calm, collected demeanor beyond his years, it's easy to see not only why Real Salt Lake is banking on Seitz to be its man between the posts for years to come, but why many expect him to assume that role with the United States Men's National Team down the road.

Expectations are high after Real Salt Lake made the University of Maryland product the second-highest goalkeeper ever selected in the MLS SuperDraft with the fourth overall pick in January - behind only Chivas USA netminders Brad Guzan (2nd in 2005) - but there's no immediate pressure for him to perform after RSL obtained the services of MLS veteran Nick Rimando just prior to the season. Real Salt Lake will have to learn to share the talented Seitz during the course of the season, as he'll be looked upon to start for the U.S. Under-20 National Team during its run in the FIFA World Youth Championships in Canada in June and July. But upon his return from his U.S. duties, Seitz should be confident, competition-ready, and hungry to challenge for RSL's starting role.
