Divisional Profile

North West Leeds Division is based in the north and west of Leeds.
It stretches to the edge of the city centre in the south incorporating the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University and a large youthful student population in communities including Burley, Headingley and Woodhouse.

To the north it reaches Otley and includes the county’s gateway to the world – Leeds/Bradford International Airport which is continuing to expand in both international and domestic air traffic. In the west of the division are the busy communities of Pudsey, Armley and Bramley as well as Farsley, Calverley and Rodley.

Home to Yorkshire County Cricket and the Leeds Rhinos, the division’s population is boosted regularly by the large influx of people visiting the Headingley Stadium for rugby league and test cricket matches. There is also an increasing commercial and leisure sector with new sports complexes, retail parks, leisure centres, cinemas and night-clubs being attracted to the area.

It also houses one of the largest remand prisons in the country at HMP Leeds
