2007 Ivy Cross Country Heps Preview
The Ivy Cross Country Heps once again return to New York's Van Cortlandt Park on Friday. Both Princeton squads appear strong and should be considered early favorites. However, with what looks to be like potentially wet conditions, the races could see several surprises.

Ivy Weekly Field Hockey Awards 8 - 10/23
Sophomore Kaitlin Donovan scored perhaps the most important goal of the season this past weekend for the Princeton field hockey team. Her tally against Harvard gave the 5-1 Tigers at least a share of the Ivy League title. Princeton can now win the title outright with a win against Penn on Nov. 2nd.

Ivy Weekly Volleyball Awards 7 - 10/23
Junior Parker Henritze powered Princeton to a road sweep this weekend, keeping the undefeated Tigers atop the Ivy standings. She averaged 5.25 kills and 3.62 digs/game, including a 25-kill, 20-dig effort versus Dartmouth.

Ivy Weekly Football Notebook 7 - 10/22
Princeton hosts Cornell in its second 'Friday Night Lights' game in two years, but it's the Dartmouth Big Green trying to stir up the standings. Coach Teevens' squad can move into a tie for second if it can beat Harvard, coached by Teevens' close friend Tim Murphy.

Ivy Weekly Men's Soccer Awards 8 - 10/22
Dartmouth's Dani Rothenberg continued to keep the Big Green in the Ivy title hunt with two goals against Columbia. With a date against Harvard lurking, Rothenberg's opportunistic tallies could be just what Dartmouth needs to counter the furious Crimson attack.

Ivy Weekly Women's Soccer Awards 8 - 10/22
Penn sophomore striker Jessica Fuccello has the Quakers off to their best Ivy start in school history after pouring in another goal this weekend — her League-leading ninth of the year. She also added an assist in the 2-1 win over Yale.

Ivy Weekly Football Awards 6 - 10/22
Cornell sophomore Randy Barbour had the game of his career, rushing for 159 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Big Red erased a 17-point second-half deficit to defeat Brown. He earns his first Ivy Player of the Week award for his performance.

Ivy Weekly Football Report 6 - 10/20
Yale and Penn played the game of the day — a three-overtime contest on the YES Network — with the Bulldogs prevailing 26-20. With Harvard beating Princeton, the Crimson and the Elis — both 3-0 in Ivy games — looked to be headed toward a huge showdown in New Haven on Nov. 17.

Columbia to Add Varsity Men's and Women's Squash
Columbia will elevate its club squash programs to begin full varsity competition in fall 2011, Athletic Director Dr. M. Dianne Murphy announced. They will be the 30th & 31st intercollegiate sports programs at Columbia.

Ivy Weekly Field Hockey Awards 7 - 10/16
Senior forward Cat Lindroth helped Yale field hockey celebrate its 35th anniversary this past week by defeating Harvard, who was previously undefeated in Ivy League play. She has 10 points in the last five games.

Ivy Weekly Volleyball Awards 6 - 10/16
Sophomore libero Megan Mushovic helped Cornell stay in the Ivy mix, carrying the Big Red to a weekend sweep of Harvard and then-undefeated Dartmouth. She set a school-record with 50 digs against the Crimson, while adding another 42 versus the Big Green.

Tigers Make A Statement
The Princeton women's cross country team — led by the sophomore duo of Liz Costello and Christy Johnson — claimed the 2007 Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Ind. UPDATE: The Tigers are now ranked fourth nationally in the national coaches' poll.

Ivy Weekly Football Notebook 6 - 10/15
The YES Network will broadcast its first Ivy game of the season when Yale visits Penn. The Quakers have beaten the Bulldogs in the last three matchups at Franklin Field. Meanwhile, Harvard will train to remain unbeaten in Ivy play when it hosts Princeton.

Ivy Weekly Men's Soccer Awards 7 - 10/15
Nick Elenz-Martin used a game-winning overtime goal against No. 7 Harvard to propel the No. 20 Brown Bears to the top of the Ivy standings in men's soccer. His outstanding midfield play, coupled with the timely finish, have secured Ivy Player of the Week honors for the sophomore.

Ivy Weekly Women's Soccer Awards 7 - 10/15
Brown goalie Steffi Yellin carried the Bears to their first Ivy win, a 1-0 shutout win at Harvard. Yellin was huge, making 10 saves in a match that saw Harvard outshoot Brown 24-8, as the Bears handed the Crimson their first home loss and shutout of the year.

Ivy Weekly Football Awards 5 - 10/15
Yale running back Mike McLeod and Brown kicker Steve Morgan continued to break records and claim awards. McLeod broke his own Yale single-game rushing mark while Morgan kicked four field goals to break the Ivy League's all-time record for three-pointers.

Robert Kraft Gives To Columbia Athletics
Columbia University announced that Robert K. Kraft, Chairman and CEO of The Kraft Group, owner of the New England Patriots and 1963 graduate of Columbia College, has pledged $5 million to the University in support of Columbia’s intercollegiate athletics program.

Ivy Weekly Football Report 5 - 10/13
Brown and Penn used high-powered offenses to claim their first League wins of the season while a familiar story emerged from New Haven. Bulldog junior tailback Mike McLeod did it again as Yale remained unbeaten.

Columbia, Penn Square Off in Sirius Game of the Week
Penn pays a visit to New York City tomorrow afternoon to take on Columbia in the Sirius Satellite Radio Ivy League Game of the Week, to be aired on Sirius channel 161 at 1:30 pm.

Handful of Leaguers Honored
The Ivy League has five senior football players who have been picked as semifinalists for the 2007 Draddy Award, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary community leadership.

Men's Soccer Powers Collide in Massachusetts

Ivy Weekly Volleyball Awards 5 - 10/9
With the title race heating up, junior middle blocker Kathryn Turner came up huge for Penn — powering the Quakers to a perfect weekend with 26 kills in two matches, while making just one error for an eye-popping .625 hitting percentage.

Ivy Weekly Field Hockey Awards 6 - 10/9
Charlotte Goins used a .950 save percentage — and 19 saves in total — to pace the Yale Bulldogs to a 2-0 week, including a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Dartmouth. Boasting a save percentage ranked second in the nation, Goins only allowed one goal in the two matches.

Ivy Weekly Men's Soccer Awards 6 - 10/8
Mike Klein once again turned in a two-goal performance against the Columbia Lions to pace the Penn Quakers to a 3-2 victory in the opening weekend of Ivy League play. He originally did the feat as a freshman. He has been named as the Ivy Player of the Week for his efforts.

We are not much for predictions here at Ivy Central, but we think that there might be a large number of points scored at Brown Stadium this week. That's because Brown and Princeton games in the last two weeks have yielded 325 points!

Princeton senior midfielder Diana Matheson was unstoppable in wins over Rutgers and Brown this week as she had a hand in seven of the eight goals scored by the Tigers (who also benefited from an own goal last week). She has been named as the Ivy Player of the Week for her efforts.

Brown's Michael Dougherty became the first Ivy Leaguer in a decade to post back-to-back 400-yard passing performances while the Bears' Steve Morgan became the highest-scoring kicker in League history on Saturday. Each earns Player of the Week accolades.

The 2007 Ivy League men's soccer campaign kicks off this weekend as all eight schools hit the pitch. The defending champion - Harvard - officially opens the season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Cornell.

After his record-setting performance against Holy Cross, Yale junior running back Mike McLeod has earned national and regional accolades.

Ivy Weekly Field Hockey Awards 5 - 10/2
Yale sophomore Ashley McCauley has quickly become a potent offensive threat on a national scale. In a 5-2 victory over Sacred Heart, McCauley torched the Pioneer net for four goals and added an assist for good measure. She has 11 goals on the year.

Ivy Weekly Volleyball Awards 4 - 10/2
Princeton junior middle blocker Lindsey Ensign recorded 4.83 kills per game and hit a blistering .440 to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 week, which included a thrilling 3-2 win over Penn in the Ivy League opener.

Ivy unbeatens Yale and Dartmouth square off in New Haven this weekend, but another interesting matchup will take place in Princeton, where the Tigers welcome nationally ranked Hampton. The Big Red manufactured two impressive victories this past week to march up the Ivy standings. They did so by relying on the individual efforts of an opportunistic Brenna Gulotta, whose two goals paced the Big Red to 1-0 victories against both Yale and Holy Cross.

John Tillman Named Harvard Lacrosse Coach
Nichols Family Director of Athletics Bob Scalise has announced that John Tillman — who has served as an assistant coach at the United States Naval Academy since 1995 — has been named the head coach of men’s lacrosse at Harvard.

A SIRIUS Matchup

Yale Senior Associate Athletic Director Barbara Chesler has been honored by the ECAC as the 2007 recipient of the Katherine Ley Award - honoring an administrator with demonstrated leadership ability who is also a proponent of women's issues and a role model for female coaches and administrators.

Ivies Shine in MLL Final
The Ivy trio of Ryan Boyle, Matt Striebel and Seth Goldberg scored more than half of the Philadelphia Barrage's goals as that squad became the first to repeat at Major League Lacrosse champions.
