Georgia Poll + LA Times Polls + Ron Paul w/ African Americans

10/24/07

The talk of the polling world right now is centered on the latest LA Times/Bloomberg poll because in it we see Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton looking unstoppable. Giuliani held a narrow 4 point lead over Fred Thompson in LA Times' June poll but is now sitting there with a 17% lead.

One ray of good light for you Thompson fans, however, is his surge in Georgia which could be a sign of things to come in the south. Regardless of what happens in Iowa and New Hampshire, Thompson will need South Carolina.

Candidate LA Times GA
Rudy Giuliani 32 20
Fred Thompson 15 39
John McCain 13 9
Mitt Romney 11 6
Mike Huckabee 7 7

The "Ron Paul is a racist" rhetoric is growing louder on the web and on YouTube... at least to my observations, so we looked at how he polls among African Americans in a general election and I think the results will surprise you. MORE>>

Iowa Polls + CBS Republican National Poll

10/19/07

CBS News only asks voters to choose from a small sample of candidates. Sam Brownback is expected to drop out of the race. He has been as high as 5% in Iowa, here it shows him at 4%. Who will benefit from his dropping out in Iowa. Mike Huckabee is an obvious beneficiary and that is what everybody will report. But Mitt Romney, too, will benefit from his departure. Sam Brownback only gained traction among those that considered themselves religious according to RealClearPolitics.com. So if you were to divvy up his votes according to how relgious voters were voting, the majority would go to Huckabee and Romney.

Joe Biden is sitting at 6% here in Iowa. Very good news for the Delaware senator as he's been trying to bust out of the bottom for months. He is starting to gain traction in Iowa. It seems a very tough feat for him to displace Clinton but getting by Richardson would be the first step.
