Rapp to Manage Paul Miller Washington Fellowships

From the release:

Former CQ editor David Rapp will manage the National Press Foundation's venerated Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellowships for 2007-2008, NPF has announced.

"We are thrilled that David will bring his proven expertise, knowledge of Washington and commitment to the highest quality journalism to this unique program," said NPF president Bob Meyers.

The Paul Miller Fellowship provides 20 journalists annually with an intensive introduction to Washington leaders, issues, and agencies. The program takes place one day a month for 10 months, starting in September. There is no cost to accepted journalists.

Rapp is a principal of Experience Omnimedia LLC, which develops media properties in underserved markets. It is in the midst of developing a print magazine and online service for the consumer travel sector.

For the previous 10 years, David was the editor and senior vice president of Congressional Quarterly Inc., where he ran a newsroom of 125 reporters, editors, researchers and database managers. He was responsible for all print and online publications, including the CQ Weekly, CQ Today, the CQ.com legislative tracking service, a suite of specialty newsletters, and the biennial reference work on Congress, Politics in America. In 2003, David initiated and led the reorganization of CQ's discrete print and online operations into a single, integrated newsroom, where reporters and editors who cover Congress file stories in all platforms and news cycles. He has been a member of the NPF board since 2005.
