In-Tents Questioning: Knowsley Hall, Saturday - Paul Roffey

paulroffey.gifPaul Roffey went to Knowsley Hall on Saturday, and got in touch to undergo a bit of In-Tents Questioning. His opinions about one artist in particular are sufficiently strong that he has felt the need to sport a disguise, lest he be tracked down by disgruntled fans.

At this point *dons lawyer's briefcase* I should point out that any opinions about Pete Wylie expressed heretoforewhenceforth are those of the respondent and not My Chemical Toilet or Shiny Media or any of its employees or employees' friends or employees' friends' family / pets *puts down lawyer's briefcase*.

1. Kindly tell us your name, age and where you’re from. Now.

Paul Roffey, 28, from Didsbury in Manchester.

2. Which festival have you recently attended?

Knowsley Hall on Saturday.

3. Have you attended this festival before? If yes, how does this year compare?

No, it’s the first time. I’ve been to Knowsley before to see the monkeys, so you could say yes I have been before, but there wasn’t any music on.

Knowsley Hall festival - reports say music good, organisation bad

thewho2.gifIt might seem like Glastonbury was the only festival occuring in the universe this past weekend, but Merseyside's Knowsley Hall took place for the first time as well. It was a festival in the non-camping sense, so whether you consider it a festival or not will depend on your hardcore-ness, I imagine.

Sadly one thing it has in common with Glasto is that a member of the audience died. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death, but police are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.

Uncut kept a blog from the site, with the photos bearing more than a passing resemblance to those coming through from Somerset. But by all accounts The Who put an amazing show, which will compensate the crowd for the less pleasing aspects... of which, according to this article, there were many.

Riderwatch: Aerosmith, Joss Stone, The Who underwhelm with their demands

jossstone.gifIf you're anything like me, you like to think that rock stars spend their time pre- and post-performance shagging quail's eggs and bathing in champagne. If you're not anything like me - congratulations.

Rider demands of musicians have become a staple for newspapers, and with handy sites like The Smoking Gun only too willing to expose stars' outlandish demands, there's usually plenty out there to gasp / laugh / vomit at.

The Who headline Merseyside's Knowsley Hall festival on 23rd & 24th June

thewho.gifThis coming weekend is going to be dominated by Glastonbury, but believe it or not there are one or two other things going on as well. Hyde Park Calling is one of them, but there's another non-camping 2-dayer on offer - Knowsley Hall festival will take place on Merseyside, and is being organised by the guys behind Creamfields and Rockness.

The lineup mixes current and classic artists, with The Who, The Coral and The View amongst the acts playing Saturday, with Sunday featuring Joss Stone, Keane, The Zutons and Madness. There's also a MySpace stage for less established acts, with The Black Velvets headlining. Last week the event officially got the go ahead from Knowsley Council, which will be a relief for promoters and fans since tickets have been selling for a while already.

Tickets are still available for a fair old whack here, while eFestivals has a list of confirmed performers.

Below you can see local lads The Coral performing arguably their best song, "Dreaming Of You", on Jools Holland. Click through to YouTube for amusing arguments about whether Pete Doherty wrote it (?!).
