The Gadget Wars, Who Won/Lost Last Week?

040206edge4_2.jpg Every week is a battle. And while in the gadget world there is seldom a good TKO or even the traditional flaming body slam off the top ropes, every week is a battle for the consumer mind and the consumer heart. So here's our version of what went down last week. more »

Canada's Rogers Network to Get iPhone by December?

rogersiphoneGI.jpg The guys at BGR have spotted this advertisement floating around the Internet, which supposedly shows the iPhone being made available on Canada's Rogers network. The flier stipulates the iPhone shall be made available, by December 7th, for $499CAD on a three-year contract. Pre-orders for the device are shown to be starting on 20th November. The above information does not seem to be too far fetched, but this could easily be a PS hoax. You have been warned—don't book a day off work just yet. [BGR]

iPod+Skateboard=No More Dropping

1719392124_847b5274a5.jpg The sexy metallic rear finish of an iPod has long offered users the fulfillment of discovering just how much oil their fingertips produce on a daily basis. But it's also quite slippery, especially in a pocket. After losing his new iPod Touch to a deep cab seat, one ex-skateboarder gone tech reporter put two and two together and realized that anti-slip skateboard tape just might be the solution to this global problem. The verdict? Works like a charm. more »

LG Shine Wood (Not Actually Made of Wood)

113864.jpg

The LG Shine Wood LG-LB2500H, by all logical reason, should be made of wood. And while the Wood does sport a fine wood grain, users will be saddened to realize that no trees were killed in the making of this phone or its painted visage.

Other than that, this Korea-only phone sports goodies you will never be worthy of (like DMB television, an electronic dictionary and the near-magnetic attraction of pretty Korean models).

Leopard Hacked For Self-Hating PC Users

We had written a very smug, Macs rule PCs drool post reporting that PC users could run Leopard. And then our Mac froze up and we lost it all. So now you just get the news straight, without our giggling. The news, once again: OSX Leopard has been hacked to work on all Intel PCs, and the process is ridiculously simple, requiring a small .zip and a touch of blank media. more »

SprinthisUnGI.jpg Sprint

Sprint Sprints to be the First to Agree to Phone Unlocking

Sprint has become the first American CDMA wireless company to begin unlocking their hardware once contracts have been honored. The move will allow other unlocked handsets to function on Sprint's network, but whether the reverse will occur with the other carriers is yet to be seen. For ex-Sprint customers who are happy with their phones but want to move to a different provider, it will not be imperative to purchase a new handset for the switch. This is because the unlocked handsets will function on all compatible carriers across the board. Well done to Sprint for being the first out there to get the, now inevitable, mass unlocking phenomenon well underway. [Boy Genius Reports]
