Superintendent James Hoyle - "Tech-Savvy Superintendent"
On Friday, February 24, Superintendent James Hoyle was named one of ten "Tech-Savvy Superintendents" by eSchool News, a prestigious national technology in education publication. Before receiving his award at the annual awards luncheon associated with the American Association of School Administrators Conference, Hoyle gave the keynote address to a Reunion and Peer Networking Session attended by former and present Tech-Savvy Superintendents. Hoyle talked about the devastation that Hurricane Katrina unleashed upon Plaquemines Schools and the restoring and rebuilding process that has begun to take place. He narrated a PowerPoint presentation which graphically displayed the effects the storm had on our schools in general and our technology in particular. Terry Smithson of the Intel Corporation flew in to introduce Hoyle and update the audience on the progress of national technology partners in helping south Louisiana recover from Katrina. Also attending the conference with Hoyle were Belle Chasse Primary Principal Cynthia Hoyle, Personnel Director Melvina Sias, IT Director Lucien Cusimano, Instructional Technology Director Carol Roberts, and Librarian Marilyn Cusimano.
