The Chaser's War on Everything has gone global after blitzing Australian television ratings.

The satirical ABC series is being screened in Israel, South Korea, New Zealand, Norway and Finland and the national broadcaster is now in talks with more than 20 other countries.

The biggest interest is coming from the Middle East, according to some newspaper reports.

ABC International sales chief Karen Dacey, who has just returned from a TV trade fair in Cannes, said The Chaser's APEC stunts generated huge interest, as did the new hit series Summer Heights High.

"Both shows were our biggest hits and there was a huge word of mouth buzz about them," Ms Dacey said.

"It shows both can travel, but The Chaser really hit a chord because everyone had heard of them from APEC."

"Our Middle Eastern clients loved them and the Iranian buyers thought they were hilarious and they could be seen there."

He said the series would be re-edited and local politics would be taken out.

Members of the The Chaser team were arrested after driving a fake diplomatic motorcade through two high-security checkpoints during the APEC summit in Sydney last month.

Other countries looking at picking up the program include Denmark, Poland, Japan, Thailand, Spain, Canada, The Netherlands and the United States.
