Latest FM Update - 1:40:37 PM - The Phantom
Latest news report from the thread List of Upcoming Fanmissions on the TTLG forums.

CrackedGear and Theker make an appearance in the list.

CrackedGear has a Thief 3 mission in development, called 'Silence'. It's around 85% complete and should be released pretty soon. The second author is Theker. He is busy working on 'Thief Trinity', which will become 3 mission campaign.

Mxleader has revealed the working title for his upcoming mission: United Bank of Auldale. Progress is going much more rapidly lately and if all goes well it should be ready around christmas.

First Snow, the first part of Nightstroll's Tears of the Trickster campaign, is around 80% done. New screenshots have been posted on the forums.

Ghost_in_the_shell's debut FM, The Box, is now under beta testing. No release date is given, but should be pretty soon.

After a year of absence, Gian reappeared and gave us a preview (several screens) of his great looking upcoming mission. Status nor release date are given, but at least it's still alive.

Finally some short news: Asgaroth's FM The Suffer Catalyst and Lady Rowena's The Seven Sisters are slowly moving near completion (both are over 90% complete).

The full list of changes can be found here.

Until next update,

The Phantom

The Dark MOD Encircled - 6:53:27 AM - Dan
Though the longevity of the dark engine development community has never been in question, many have expressed their creativity and visions of the Thief Universe in other ways and mediums. For several years now The Dark MOD has worked to create a new environment with which FM developers may use to form their creations. Time and again over these years they have not only displayed the talent and ability to provide this environment, but also the dedication to see the project through in spite of controversy, and the slow, often delayed, time consuming nature of a hobby-based game design project.

TTLG and Thief-TheCircle.com has elected to endorse this project on the main menu of our site, shoulder to shoulder with proven greats such as T2X and Black Cat games, makers of Thievery. I am confident that in time this team will see the fruits of their labor mature to completion, and become a valuable addition to the Thief Community.

Additionally, it is tradition for the developers of The Dark MOD base game engine - id's doom 3 - to release their source code. That day, combined with the potential of this project, could present a very exciting time for Thief fans. With little possibility of a true continuation to the series, The Dark MOD offers even more assurance as to the longevity of this community.

PC Gamer Features Thief FMs in Column - 4:09:55 AM - Biohazard
I was flipping through my PC Gamer magazine when I saw the word Thief in the Homebrew column. I began reading and the column was talking about old games that are still alive due to a dedicated fanbase. The three games he chose were Thief, Baldur's Gate, and Vampire: Bloodlines.

Here's what the article said about Thief:

The Thief franchise may have come to an ulitmate end, but master taffer Garrett is still fleecing nobility, thanks to an incredible number of fan-made missions. Nine years after Thief: The Dark Project arrived in stores, modders continue to create adventures for the classic sneaker and its sequel, Thief II: The Metal Age. (The Xboxian third game, Thief: Deadly Shadows? Er, not so much.)
Check out Thief: The Circle (www.thief-thecircle.com) or The Keep of Metal and Gold (www.keepofmetalandgold.com/) to plunder vaults filled with more than 500 missions. Dozens of these escapes are worth your time and water arrows. I'd recommend old faves like Purah's Calendra's Legacy, Saturnine's The Seventh Crystal, Alex Thompson's Ranstall Keep (in noirish black and white, no less), and the Dark Engineering Guild's T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age.

The Mod of the Month was T2X! Here's the little box with the description.

Had Looking Glass lived long enough to make an expansion to Thief II, it might have looked like T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age. This fan-made add-on features a new female protagonist, 13 missions, 3000 lines of dialogue, and custom mission briefings and cutscenes. It doesn't quite have the mysterious allure of the original games, but it's awfully close...

July FM Update - 7:11:25 PM - The Phantom
Latest news report from the thread List of Upcoming Fanmissions on the TTLG forums.

Two FM authors have been added to the list, both working on their first fan mission with dromEd:
- Cavalorn is working on a campaign in the stlye of Lord of the Rings, called 'Lord of the Thieves. The first mission, Attack of the Orc, should be ready for release later this summer.
- Deception has a Thief Gold mission in the works, called 'The Shadow'. It's over 50% done, and is also planned for release this summer.

Due to DromEd errors, malau has abandoned 'Mission 5b', that was supposed to be a remake of the original Thief 2 mission ambush. He restarted this concept, and changed the name into 'Curse of the Werewolf'.
No release date is given as there's still a lot of work to be done.

Two missions were recently released, and have been removed from the list:
These are 'Rebel' by john-the-begger, and 'Kill Factory II' by Sliptip. Both missions are available for download at the Keep of Metal and Gold.

Now that he completed his study for architect, DrK resumed work on the third part of his 'Night in Rocksbourg' campaign, titled 'Ink and Dust'. He hopes to release it this year. Another french dromEder, gaetane, gave us an update of the 5-mission series he works on: The Black Frog. It will be the sequel to 'Emilie Victor' and is currently for 85% complete.

Both projects are really worth waiting for. Check out the screens they posted. You can find the links in the upcoming missions thread.

The link to the thread all FM map makers please read this has been added to the list of Other threads about upcoming missions. This thread was started over 4 years ago, and shows many FM's that were in development back then.

Finally, the latest update includes a system of colors for the list. It makes it easy to see the current chance a mission makes it to release. Green means pretty certain, while red means that it will most likely never be finished. More information can be found in this post.

The full list of changes can be found in the thread: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109278

Until next update,

FM Update - 3:43:24 AM - The Phantom
Here is the latest news report from the thread List of Upcoming Fanmissions on TTLG's Fan mission forum.

One author is new in the list: john-the-begger, who recently return to dromEd after a long hiatus, has two missions in development. One is called 'Rebel' and will be released soon. The other is still untitled and is around 30% complete. Heroism on Command, the mission he started years ago, was lost in a crash and will not be remade.

Sliptip revealed that next to 'The First Project' and 'Ashen Age part 2', he is working on a third mission, called 'Kill Factory II: Escape from the Planet of the Robots'. It's currently under beta testing and should arrive shortly.

Kamon and SlyFoxx both revealed some new screens of their upcoming missions, respectively 'Shadows of the Past' and 'Opportunity Knocks'. Check out both of their profile in the thread for a link.

Asgaroth has recently released a short preview video of his upcoming mission 'The Suffer Catalyst', which was supposed to be an entry for the Masters of Horror Contest. The release is planned around august 2007.

Sterlino's 'The Flying Age' is finished, except for a few voice samples that still need to be implemented. When that it is done, it will be up for beta testing.

A Love Story 3, by John Denison, is currently under beta and should be ready soon. Be sure to play the first two parts first to get into the story.

TheImmortalThief is currently fixing the final bugs of 'Bane II: Cult of the Damned' (p.k.a. A Keeper's Betrayal 2). Meanwhile, an updated version of 'A Keeper's Betrayal is also being worked on, and will be released simultaneous with part 2. No exact release date is given, but will probably be somewhere in the coming weeks.

Finally, several authors in the thread have had their Crap Contest missions added to their earlier missions list.

The full list of changes can be found in the thread: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109278

Until next update,

MysteryDev Releases Thief Music Mix - 8:28:44 PM - Biohazard
The local forum persona, MysteryDev, released a mix of his own from the original Thief series. It's quite good and I highly recommend a download to bring back the nostalgia of playing Thief. You can download the mp3 file here.

If you'd like to read and discuss this mix or the Thief: Deadly Shadows soundtrack, you can go to this thread.

If you'd like to check out more Thief music, make you you stop by the media page.

The Dark Mod - Update - 4:38:26 AM - Haegan
I love good news. Particularly when it's about massive upcoming projects. Hence, I particularly enjoyed hearing that the Dark Mod team have:

* Created working Flashbombs / Flashmines and Explosive mines.

* Extra screenshots of new maps; Bonehoard style ones. (Yay!)

* And in my oppinion the best bit; A new Dark Mod website dedicated to their customised editor 'Dark Radiant.' A link to which you can find here.

Of course, if you haven't already, or you've never heard of the Dark Mod, you probably want to check out the Dark Mod website itself. They can be found here.

If that isn't good news I don't know what is...

Updated Fan Mission List - 10:27:15 AM - The Phantom
Latest news report from the thread 'List of Upcoming Fanmissions' on the TTLG forums.

3 dromeders are added to the list: Metalhead, author of fm's like Dyer's Eve and Bloodsport, has several missions in development, which are part of the Thief Revelation Campaign. It's highly unlikely that they're ever going to be released though. Nobody has heard of the author in years.
snakehunt3r is working on a two mission campaign. The first mission is already finished. The author posted some screens on the forums recently, which shows some impressive texturing.
The Thief 2 Gold Team doesn't need any introduction. Their project is, of course, Thief 2 Gold, the official unreleased expansion pack by Looking Glass.
No release date is currently planned, because there's still a lot of work to do. The team is looking for more team members to help with several aspects of development. See the details in the thread in case you're interested.

2 dromeders have been removed from the list:
Catman has released his first fan mission, called Five Tigers: HBS Iron Butterfly. It is the first mission in a series of six. It can be found on the author's website, The Circle and the Keep.
Zontik has released the last part of his Thief Gold FM trilogy: The Eternal Candle. See the main thread at TTLG for a download link.

Tdbonko revealed the name of what will his their last fm: Dreamin'. HipBreaker also revealed a provisional name for the mission he works on: Codename - Addiction. The actual title will be announced at a later time. Just like tdbonko's, it will be his last mission. Check out the new screens he posted on the forums.

Two Fm's have been added to belboz's list of upcoming missions: The Book of Ages and Tower of the Moon. The first is actually a whole campaign, just like TTGM series, that should eventually contain 9 missions! If we ever see all of this released is highly unlikely. The author seems to have lost interest in dromEd. Only the last parts of the TTGM series might be finished, with the Dark Mod however.

An "Asked for Assistance" notification has been wrote down for the projects of Alexius & Team, Caradavin and YcatX. All three of them need help to finish (parts of) the missions they work on. Check out their details in the thread if you're interested in helping them out. This is probably the last chance for The Hammerite Imperium and the Ruins of Originia series to see the light of day.

A few authors gave us release dates for the missions they work on. Among them are tdbonko's Dreamin' (september) and Lord Alan's Factory (this week).

Details have been added to the details of the folllowing authors. For belboz and HipBreaker this is information about their projects, and for Saturnine it's a mention of another dromeder, caffeinatedzombeh, who is assisting him during the development of The Seventh Crystal part 2.

Finally there's news about several missions:
DrK's Rocksbourg part 3 is on hold until july, ImmortalThief's A Keeper's Betrayal sequel (Bane II Cult of the Damned) is currently being beta-tested, and Krush the Second resumed work on his mission (but don't expect it to be released this year).

The full list of changes can be found in the thread: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109278

Until next update,

The Phantom

FM Preview, Including Screenshots - By HipBreaker - 11:26:05 AM - Haegan

New TG FM: The Eternal Candle - 8:41:28 AM - Haegan
Yet another new FM release! 'The Eternal Candle' by Zontik. This is a highly worthy sequel to 'The Golden Book of the Keepers' and 'The Last Page.' For those of you who have issues with largeish files, a version has been released sans cutscenes. Enjoy!

Discuss this FM with us.

Latest on Nightblade - 1:55:43 PM - Dan
Since The Dark MOD site was updated and no-one told us (totally understandable considering that we stopped doing news updates for several months!) I decided to check and see if there was any news on Nightblade. The last we heard they were changing the focus of the project, reorganizing, and had decided to switch up to the Unreal Tournament 3 engine. Low and behold, I found this on their site, along with a solitary screenshot (of the game in UT2004 no doubt, as UT3 is still a long way off...)
Nightblade is a new game from Black Cat Games, currently in production using the Unreal 2.5 engine. Our aim is to produce a well-balanced competitive multiplayer game in an immersive, emergent and dramatic world, where three groups with specific skill sets face off in an attempt to complete their goals.

Nightblade features three teams, each with different goals. The Thieves are interested in carrying away as much wealth as possible from the richer city elites, and are equipped with many tools for helping them hide, sneak and break into the wealthy buildings of the city.

The Mercenaries, in the employ of rich merchants, are paid well to patrol the foggy, darkened streets and opulent houses. Equipped with lanterns and muskets, they keep a watchful eye out for the thieves and form a first line of defence against the darker creatures which inhabit the city.

Emerging at night from underground, the Shades deal in terror. Threatening the values and way of life of the rich city dwellers, these creatures seek the Nightblade pieces for dark purposes of their own, and with a lust for death and destruction and obsessed with power, they are a constant threat.

For more information on Nightblade, head on over to the Nightblade website

UT3 can't come out soon enough, can it?
