Hanover, N.H.—Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth graduate Ramsey Jay Jr. has been selected as one of the country's top 30 African-American leaders under 30 by Ebony Magazine. An annual feature, the "30 Young Leaders Under 30" list appears in the February issue and presents accomplished young men and women who, in addition to making strides in their various professions, demonstrate their leadership qualities by giving back to their communities and devoting time and effort to charitable endeavors.

"Words can't describe how humbling it is to receive this recognition," says Jay, who graduated from Tuck in 2005. Jay says the nomination has prompted him to reflect on the many people "who have gone out of their way to make me better than they found me." He adds that his plan is to "keep doing what I've been doing and use my skills and good fortune to help others."

Ebony notes Jay's current position as an associate in Morgan Stanley's Private Wealth Management Division in Los Angeles, and highlights that he is also the former national coordinator for financial literacy initiatives at Operation HOPE, Inc., which seeks to promote economic self-sufficiency in inner-city communities. In addition, Jay is founder and CEO of Elite Capital Development, an organization that works closely with athletes to develop customized programs to ensure success after the conclusion of a high-profile sports career. He is also a member of the advisory council for Los Angeles' New West Symphony.

An exceptionally active member of the Tuck community, Jay was elected by his classmates to serve as the class' student speaker during their 2005 Investiture. His voice and message ever-electric, he was also invited during his second year at Tuck to present a keynote address at Tuck's Diversity Conference, which he has keynoted every year since. Since graduating from Tuck, Jay has maintained an aggressive public speaking schedule and delivered motivational speeches to audiences around the country on topics such as diversity and leadership.

"Ramsey has a great gift for motivation and presentation," says Sally Jaeger, assistant dean and director of the MBA program at Tuck. "He uses his talent generously and has always been conscious about giving back and helping people achieve their aspirations. We are absolutely delighted, but not surprised, to see Ramsey on Ebony's list of emerging leaders."

In April 2005, Jay began compiling a weekly one-page digest on leadership, drawing from his conversations with people he met during the course of a week. He hopes to publish this digest as a book—which has the working title Life Lessons From the Everyday Lives of Others—in the near future.

Founded in 1900, Tuck is the first graduate school of management and ranks consistently among the top business schools worldwide. Tuck remains distinctive among the world's great business schools by combining human scale with global reach, rigorous coursework with experiences requiring teamwork, and valued traditions with innovation.
