November first things.

1) Nintendo's new handheld will see release in late 2009.
Although someone emailed me today saying "dudes i gotta a hot scoops on the new nintendo handheld system, it comes out 10/10/2010 and does not have a screen and is codenamed revolution." I'm glad I can get such hot scoops.
2) Something from J.J. Abrams that is not Lost is getting the game treatment.
I'm crossing my fingers for the Felicity MMORPG.
3) Ubisoft Montpelier is working on Beyond Good & Evil 2, Frédérick Raynal's new game (creepy), and an MMO. One of those will see release next year and the other two in 2009.
4) That Red Steel 2 features online play.

UPDATE #1: Howdy again, Ubisoft.

Hey there Surfer Girl, i wanted to ask, do you think Rock Band for Wii is happening soon?? Or may i just buy GH3 meanwhile?

I hope you don`t get tired because we are questioning you so much, but i believe you are really spot on.

Friend of Eddie's here;

Speaking of Ubi things popping up in November, I have a question about Assassin's Creed. I've been suspecting for some time now that AC will pull an MGS2 on us when it's released, and everything we've been seeing so far will turn out to be a set of training missions for the actual bulk of the game.

I realize that AC is slated to be a franchise, so that missions in other locales and time periods are guaranteed to come along later on if they follow through with this, but I'm hopeful that we'll get to see some of that in the first game. Can you speak to any of that?

Loving your work on the blog, by the way. It's nice to hear an insider's voice again. Keep it up.

"Felicity MMORPG" =) People would love that!

I guess Armageddon, MI, Star Trek or even Alias would be more likely. I'm not saying more fun, but more likely ;)

Completely off topic or not, but do you know anything about EA Console?

EA is basically dominating the game market with sports games, crappy license games like simpsons,
and now with some new IPs like Mass Effect, SKATE, Crysis, Hamilton F1-game, Spore, Dead Space...

Whats the next step? In the past Peter Moore has been a key figure with both Dreamcast and Xbox platforms, so from my perspective managing the EA sports division sounds a bit far-fetched. Is he really in charge of the hushhush EA next-next-gen console, or is that just internet rumor?

I would like to ask you some questions about Ubisoft's games.
1)Is Red Steel 2 going to have online co-op?
2)Do you know if Beyond Good& Evil is coming to Wii?
3)Is there any chance for Wii owners to play in their consoles Assassin's Creed(they are porting it even for DS) and next-gen Pronce of Persia?

Thanks in advance.

BG&E 2?! NO WAY! You've got to be kidding. If it's true, I will have hope in the games industry.

ski: Yes, but it will be similar to the PS2 version.

ronniecordova: No, the bulk of AC is not training missions. But there may be a similarity or two to MGS2. You will get to see that in the game, but not play it.

anonymous #2: EA is not working on a console nor is there any plans for such a thing to happen, EA is purely a software company. Peter Moore is managing the sports division, why is that not believable? And aside from the awful camera, invisible walls, and a few others things, I was rather impressed by The Simpsons Game.

anonymous #3: Probably not, no, and no.

nobody care about J.J. Abrams?

me thinks cloverfield has the buzz to warrant a video game

surfer girl said...

Fladam: I don't, his work to me is the epitome of uninspired and the games based off his work are mediocre rip-offs, include the forthcoming Myst VI..er...Lost: The Game.

The JJ Abrams thing is probably the monster movie coming out in January.

i have a hard time believing the new handheld in 2009 thing, just because iwata just talked about it and it seems like nintendo doesn't even know when they're releasing new hardware. are you just speculating there?

Anonymous said...

hi surfer girl, do you have any news on "Heavy Rain" from Quantic Dreams and on what console it will appear? thanks

surfer girl said...

enbob89: Two years is quite a long time. It is not necessarily a different approach to ideas of what a handheld is that Iwata talked about.

anonymous: Next fall for the PS3 (and possibly PC) and will be published by Sony. Somebody told me back in August that Sony was considering the prospect of acquiring Quantic Dream, but that seems a bit far-fetched to me to be anything but wild and baseless speculation.

When you answered "no" to the BG&E2 on Wii question, do you mean you don't know it or do you mean it's not coming?

surfer girl said...

anonymous: Don't know it.

enbob89 said...

no, what i'm trying to say is, how can you know when a new handheld is coming out if nintendo hasn't decided when they're going to release one? are you just making a prediction? can you tell us a little bit about how you know this?

surfer girl said...

enbob89: Just because someone says they have not decided on something does not make it so, critical thinking is a necessity it modern times.
