About Internet Study Skills 2004 The Internet Study Skills Seminar is a year-long course with three main goals: 1) to learn what resources are available on the Web that support English study and research; 2) to research a topic of local interest; and 3) to make an original English website that introduces the topic researched to the public. We mainly used two types of software in this seminar - Netscape Composer 7.1 to make html files and Photoshop Elements for graphics and photo editing. One student also used Microsoft Paint to create original graphics, and some students used Button Generator for top page buttons. Please click on the links above and check out the original web pages from 2004! If you'd like to see more student web pages, check out Internet Study Skills 2003 below. |

Speech & Writing III Class is an elective subject for 3rd year English majors that meets twice a week for 90 minutes. The goals of the course are to improve writing, word processing, and speech presentation skills. In 2004, students gave 5 speeches and one song/poem recitation. Two of the speeches were done using PowerPoint, and three were done as standard speeches without visual aids. In general, students had to memorize their speeches in order to maximize eye contact. Two students from the class, Kaori and Aki, are shown above introducing their PowerPoint presentations. The main requirements for this presentation were that it had to contain a graph or table and the students had to include references for their data on the slides. Note: The presentations shown here were converted to html using the "save as web page" function of PowerPoint, so they may not be viewable on some browsers. * The content of this class will likely change for 2005, as the 2nd year students of 2004 have already covered many of the skills learned in this upper level class. |

Fall Semester Project
During the fall semester of 2003, each student in the Internet Study Skills Seminar researched a topic of her choice and made a webpage on the topic with Netscape Composer. The topics had to be local so that students could take their own photographs and post them without infringing on copyrighted photos from the Net. Check out the results of their research by clicking on the links below at right. * Shikoku University does not endorse |
