HANOVER, N.H.—On November 1-4, the 14th annual Tuck Diversity Conference at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth will bring together current students, highly qualified prospective students, Tuck faculty, staff, and alumni, plus visiting executives, for a weekend of discussion, networking, mentoring, and socializing.

Tuck's student-run diversity conference is unique because it expands the definition of diversity beyond race. The conference brings together participants from a variety of unique circumstances who care about inclusion, such as students of different socioeconomic backgrounds, religious affiliations, and sexual orientations.

"A really welcoming spirit drives this conference," explains Dia Draper, associate director of admissions for minority student recruitment.

The conference is also crucial to changing the status quo in the business world. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, one in three U.S. residents is presently a minority, and this figure is expected to climb to one in two by the year 2050. However, according to Draper, currently less than five percent of top-level leadership positions in business are held by African Americans, Latinos, or Native Americans.

To help build a diverse array of future leaders, "it is really important for us to give minorities a high-level of access to an institution like Tuck," says Draper.

The conference will be packed with events and speakers. Keynote speakers include Ramsey M. Jay Jr. T'05, associate analyst of Ares Management; Christopher J. Williams T'84, chairman, CEO, and founder of the Williams Capital Group; Peter H. Sisson T'94, CEO and founder of Toktumi; and Pamela J. Joyner D'79, managing partner and founder of Avid Partners.

This year's conference sponsors include Lehman Brothers (diamond sponsor), Bank of America (gold sponsor), Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, The Parthenon Group, PepsiCo (silver sponsors), The Boston Consulting Group, Cargill, Deloitte, Easton, and Nolej.

Founded in 1900, Tuck is the first graduate school of management in the country and consistently ranks among the top business schools worldwide. Tuck remains distinctive among the world's great business schools by combining human scale with global reach, rigorous coursework with experiences requiring teamwork, and valued traditions with innovation.
