The Digital Elevator v1_01 After an idea by Winlok. Are your PCs tired of running up and down the stairs? Have they had enough of teleporters that rip their component atoms apart in order to beam them away? Then the Digital Elevator is for you! The elevator works exactly like a real one. You push the button outside the door to make it arrive at your floor. How long you have to wait depends on how 'far away' the elevator is. Once inside you choose which floor to go to with the help of the control panel. When you have chosen your destination the door closes, you hear the rumbling of the machinery and the digital display changes as you travel upwards or downwards. 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 until you reach your destination, when the machinery goes silent and the door opens to another floor. The elevator can have up to 10 floors.
Should work equally well in multiplayer and singleplayer. The package contains a demo module, an erf file with all the necessary components to build your own unique elevator, and a step-by-step tutorial which even very inexperienced builders should be able to follow. v1.01 adds the option of making the elevator 'shake' while travelling. nereng

After the first "How Cute!" reaction, I begin to see quite a number of very useful applications for this, the first perhaps a 'descent into a mine' scenario. Very nice piece of scripting, visuals (in particular the floor numbers) and sound. Almost missed it, though, due to its catagory placement. Look forward to seeing more.

O_O please excuse my 3rd person referances to myself and any possible annoying spelling and grammer "mistakes" for a moment as i've got about... *checks watch* mmmm,,, 1 minute and thirty seconds or less before i totally lose it. that and my marbles. -. - - .-
*_* kao usually don't do this.... buuuuuuuuuuuuuut.... *takes an orange permanent sharpie and scribbles out "Just posting comment", then pulls out a BLACK sharpie and writes in "10.00", then pauses, then takes a wet wash cloth and carefully wipes out the "."* ^_^
And does anyone know/care WHY kaosu says it would get a 1000 if it could?
BECAUSE, kaosu's needed an elevator since a long while back.
*allarm clock ringing* Times up! P: now excuse me as i go celebrate my happyness. 8D *ahe-he-he-hem!* *inhales deeply* *runs in a random direction and screams* WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-EEeEEeEEeEEe-EeeEeeEeeEee-eeeeeee...!!!
*comes back and downloads* i'm done now. :D
... *blink* ..... uh... don't worry, that's completely classified as normal. XD
I guess most elevator doors close automatically after a few seconds of being open, so maybe I'll make an update with that in the near future. I say "maybe" because I have a lot of things going on at the moment, so it depends on whether I find some free time for it. ;)
I remember that I was in doubt about where to upload this. I put it in Prefab becuase I sort of wanted to make a statement about how easy it is to import into a module, but maybe it would have been more corredct to put it in Scripts.
Cheers! :)

This is very nicely done. Love the floor numbers in the elevetor.
The doors not closing behind you after alighting can be fixed very easily with a simple trigger. Probably one of those small oversights that spending prolonged time in front of one's computer can often induce.
Thanks for the nice votes folks! They have made The Digital Elevator the Top Ranked in this section! Woohoo! Keep those votes coming!
Cheers! :)

Very good. Does the job a treat and the digital display is cool too. The only thing I thought lacking was the barred door closing when you exit the elevator. _________________________ View my blog regarding the Relbonian Chronicles project --> Link

Another nice bit of coding. I have added this to my PW with a few additions like birds eye view of the city from atop the tower with a cutscene telescope, shops and player housing taboot.
Good job!

@Ghostdreamer: Thanks for the elevator music suggestion, but I'm afraid my composing skills just aren't up to the task of creating boring elevator music. lol

Great idea! Very nice piece of scripting!
If you're planning a second release, how about adding some of that anoying elevator music LOL

Great idea and great creation ... works flawlessly!
@Ayath: This elevator was built using only the finest magically-enhanced materials from Lantan. No chance of sudden elevator-cable snapping or longish between-floor stops.
