Serie B: Cesena sack Castori
Sunday 11 November, 2007

Cesena have fired Coach Fabrizio Castori following their 4-1 defeat at Rimini, a result that left them propping up the Serie B table.

Castori had been on the bench for four years with great success, leading them to the Serie C Coppa Italia title, a surprise promotion into Serie B and the play-offs for the top flight.

However, this season Cesena have struggled badly and are still without a single victory after 14 rounds. They have lost six and drawn seven games, scoring 11 goals and conceding 23.

Yesterday afternoon’s 4-1 loss at local rivals Rimini, their third consecutive defeat, proved the final straw and the club announced that Castori has been sacked.

Among the names put forward as possible replacements are former Atalanta boss Giovanni Vavassori.
