SACKED Carlton captain Lance Whitnall has retired from AFL football
because of his debilitating knee injury.
Whitnall was shown the door by the Blues last month because of concerns
over his knee problems, and had been considering nominating for the NAB AFL pre-season
draft in order to continue his career.
But the 28-year-old said two medical opinions that his future prospects
would be limited by a degenerative knee joint had forced him into
