ScoutDocs website.
IF YOU CHOOSE A CAMP
based on what you find here, please mention this site to the Council. Each year I contact 1/3 of the Councils to obtain updated information, usually only about half of them respond. Knowing that you use the information on this site could help improve their responsiveness.
About BSACamps.org:
- We have information on every Council run camp (not just the summer camps), including location, facilities, programs, and contact information for the camp and the Council running the camp. To find the camps within any state simply click on the state, for detailed information on any of the camps shown on the state map simply click on the camp.
- At BSACamps.org I concentrate on BSA run camps, if you want information on other camping opportunities within a state I provide a link to ScoutCamp.org within each state page, they list many non-Scout camps.
- To help in planning your trip to your new-found camp (and camps to stay at along the way) I provide a link to MapQuest from within every camp page. Once you get your route from MapQuest come back to this site and check out the camps along your route, then contact the camps to set up your overnight stays. What could be simpler? (If you have any suggestion just email them to me).
- A CD version of this site is available on request - over 500 have been mailed out to-date! This is handy to have in your Troop meetings if you do not have internet access at your meeting place, or just to cut down on the access time by having most of the information available without having to wait for the pages to load. The CD is offered as patchware - request the CD then send me a patch as payment, please do not send the patch until AFTER you receive the CD. Click here to request a CD version. Please provide your full address.
As an alternative to the CD: Originally I offered the site as a download, but in the pre-broadband days it wasn't very realistic so I began offering the CD version. Now with broadband speeds I would like to suggest downloading the zipped site, it will be kept up-to-date with each modification. As usual, the site is being offered as patchware: a Council Camping Guide (preferred) or a patch is requested as payment.
