- Nationally recognized financial professionals have conducted a rigorous examination of the Commonwealth's financial practices over a significant number of years. They have awarded Virginia the highest AAA bond rating for 70 years, longer than any other state.
- In April 2006, the Tax Foundation ranked Virginia the 10th lowest among the states in state and local tax burden.
- Voter turnout fell slightly below the national average in 2004.
