CMS College Stags (USA) 67-0 Tallaght Outlaws
Postal Sports Club, Tallaght.

Stags (white/red) & Outlaws linemen engaged in action.

The Tallaght Outlaws made history on Saturday when they became the first IAFL team to play a bowl game against U.S. College opposition.. The Claremont McKenna College (CMS) Stags are a NCAA college football team from California, USA. This is the third time Ireland has hosted a Global Football Tour with John Carroll Univ and Adrian College Michigan playing Team Ireland in 2004 and 2005 respectively. However, this will be the first time that an IAFL club side has played opposition of such a high standard.

James Hughes makes a catch for a Tallaght first down.

As expected, the NCAA side won a comfortable victory. Led by QB Aaron Gonzales, their high pace offense scored some spectacular touchdowns. Mike Hirokawa, D.J. Lillard scored a number of touchdowns and there was a 80 yard return by Ryan Larson. Cornerback Dan Picciotto and defensive lineman Kevin Byram were among the Stags stars on defense. However there were some good performances by the Outlaws. Defensive back Dan Breslin got an interception, broke up a number of passes and made the biggest hit of the day on his way to winning the MVP award. James Hugges, Barry Bolton and Paul O'Toole also had good games for Tallaght. The biggest compliment came after the game when some of the Stags staff said that the Outlaws performance was of a similar level to the Great Britain Bulldogs performance against the Stags in California last Autumn. The game was named in honour of William Wagner, a CMS player who passed away in recent months.
