About Katrina

FAMILY BACKGROUND - Katrina Swett is a first-generation American. Her parents came to America out of the horror of World War II in Europe with little more than the clothes on their backs. In America they found a land with wide open doors of opportunity. They were able to get an education and build a decent, good life for their two daughters.  At Yale, Katrina met a handsome Granite Stater, Dick Swett and in 1980 they were married in her parent's backyard. They are the proud parents of 7 children who have all been raised in NH and educated in New Hampshire public schools. In 2005 their oldest daughter, Chelsea was married and her wedding was celebrated in her parent's backyard in Bow, NH.

EDUCATION - Katrina attended public schools and her dad served on the local school board in her hometown. Katrina was among the early group of women to attend Yale University. She graduated in 1974 with a degree in Political Science. She went to law school at The University of California, Hastings College of The Law where she received her Juris Doctor in 1976. In 2006 Katrina earned her PhD. in History with a Focus on Human Rights and U.S. Foreign Policy from the University of Southern Denmark.

EXPERIENCE - Katrina Swett has had an impressive career that has included working as a lawyer on Capitol Hill for the Senate Judiciary Committee. She served as the Director of New England College's Graduate Program in Public Policy and has co-hosted a political news analysis show on WMUR TV. She has run numerous successful political campaigns and serves as Vice President of Swett Associates. She taught U.S. Foreign Policy at the University of Southern Denmark while her husband was serving as the American Ambassador to Denmark.

COMMUNITY SERVICE - Katrina has been active in serving her state and community in a wide variety of ways; from coaching her daughter's soccer team to serving as co-chair of the Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling. The Swett family has enjoyed hosting inner-city kids through the FAF during NH summers. Her activities and awards have included:
