Archaeology and Maritime History
Marine archaeology and maritime history responsibilities reside within the
Sanctuary and Reserves Division's Technical Projects Branch. Their
duties, mandated by the U.S. Government include:
Advising sanctuaries on cultural resource issues, coordinating the issuance
of permits for the disturbance of cultural resources and nominating to the
National Register of Historic Places cultural resources within the
sanctuaries.
