The Lumber Exchange was designed in 1885 by architects Franklin B. Long (1842-1912) and Frederick Kees (1852-1927). Designed in a Richardsonian Romanesque style, the Lumber Exchange was the first skyscraper in Minneapolis and one of the first fire-proof buildings in the country.
