The South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Department is hosting it’s annual Bear Butte Forum on Saturday, April 22nd from 8:30 am until 12 noon MST. The Bear Butte Forum is an opportunity for Tribes that are spiritually connected to Bear Butte to have a representative voice in discussions and updates about Bear Butte State Park and to share ideas for improvements.
This year’s Tentative Agenda includes reports about improvements, the buffalo herd, informational signs, volunteer work groups, educational programs at Bear Butte, as well as, an update on adjoining private lands for sale and/or sold. Discussion topics include 2007 fire ban procedures and time is allotted for additional ideas and concerns.
This meeting is open to the public.
After the Forum, the Bear Butte International Alliance will host a briefing on the efforts to protect Bear Butte over the last year.
