Cory Montgomery had the time of her life during the Nebraska women's basketball team's Hawaiian holiday adventure. The only thing rotten for Montgomery on the trip was the Huskers losing their first two games of the season during their three-day Thanksgiving tournament on Oahu. Nebraska lost to Marist, a Sweet 16 team in last season's NCAA tournament, and to Utah before defeating Akron.
Tracy Stalls is invaluable as a captain and leader off the court, but if the she keeps playing as well as she has been recently, the defending national champs will be very tough to beat in the NCAAs. The senior middle blocker and second-ranked Nebraska will start their national title defense at NU Coliseum on Friday night against South Dakota State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Nebraska interim Athletic Director Tom Osborne emerged from a short meeting with players Tuesday at about 4:20 p.m., saying he has not offered Nebraska's head coaching job to anyone and that he is not through talking to people about the job. His next move is to hit the recruiting trail and make some in-home visits, he said.

News Extra: The end of the Callahan years
Nebraska setter Rachel Holloway says the team is tougher after the blowout loss to the Longhorns.
It didn't take Nebraska senior center Aleks Maric long to get back in the groove. After scoring just nine points in each of his past two games, the preseason All-Big 12 pick exploded for 30 points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes Monday night to lead NU to a 79-62 win over Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne.
In the aftermath of his final game as Nebraska coach, Bill Callahan offered a glimpse into an uncertain future. Callahan said he expects that no football team will ever match the success displayed by NU for more than three decades under coaches Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne. "We're in a different age, a new era of college football," Callahan said after Friday's 65-51 loss at Colorado. "That's one man's opinion." That man is now looking for a new job.
