U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison knows a thing or two about lady leadership. Now she's put in all in a book.

The Texas Republican was at the Bush Library Friday signing copies of her new book "LEADING LADIES: American Trailblazers." The publication profiles those who have excelled in areas of work and study once reserved exclusively for men-including military service, science, medicine, and politics.

In a series of biographical portraits and historical overviews, LEADING LADIES tells the dramatic stories of dedicated and courageous women from all walks of life. The trailblazers included in this collection range from the first American women to enlist in the Army to the political and corporate leaders of our time.

Among the inspirational women Senator Hutchison profiles are:
· Susan B. Anthony: pioneering advocate for women's suffrage
· Eliza Jan Poitevent: the first woman publisher of a major newspaper
· Gerty Cori: the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Science
· Rosa Parks: responsible for launching the Civil Rights movement
· First Ladies: Lady Bird Johnson, Barbara Bush, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton

Included is a blend of both historical and modern pioneers from all periods of history that have contributed to the strength and progress of our nation. The women of Leading Ladies continue to influence generations of American women today and no history of the nation is complete without them. The book is available at most major bookstores.

A leading lady in her own right, Senator Hutchison was elected Chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee in 2006, becoming the fourth highest ranking Senate Republican and the only woman in the GOP's leadership.
