The Fourth of July

july4.jpgIndependence Day! The Fourth of July! The anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, also known as the USA’s birthday! Which we celebrate with the roasting of German sausages and the Chinese tradition of fireworks displays. A lot of people celebrate with a day off work, or even a long holiday weekend. If I were working, July 4th would be just another day. Since I’m not working, July 4th is... just another day. Coming at the end of what turned into a four day weekend for a lot of folks, there have been parties going on for days. Here in southeast Kentucky, those parties involve alcohol and explosions. Ah! You say, beer and fireworks! Hmm, more like moonshine and dynamite, to be honest. And relatives comparing their latest tattoos (I am not m565829-382483-thumbnail.jpgaking this up). And yes, there was beer. Click the little picture to see what kind was served. But what really bothered me was the incessant banjo pickin’. THAT will give you a headache!

Maybe we could just stuff a toilet with firecrackers.

EATING FIREWORKS

The local constable had just finished his shift one cold November evening and was at home with his wife. "You just won't believe what happened this evening love, in all my years on the beat I've never seen anything like it."
"Oh yes dear, what happened?"
"I came across two lads down by the canal, one of them was drinking battery acid and the other was eating fireworks."
"Drinking battery acid and eating fireworks!!! What did you do with them?"
"Oh that was easy, I charged one and let the other off."

CLINTON AT THE DISPLAY

After the massive fireworks display in the Hudson and East Rivers, Bill Clinton was asked what he thought of the spectacle.
He replied candidly, "Wow! That was the best bang since . . ."

Then he realized that Hillary was standing there so he declined to name names.

But above all, lets remember that Independence Day is the birthday of our nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Its a wonderful country, and people all over the world work hard to be a part of it. Could YOU pass the US Citizenship Test? Here’s a sample to check out! I scored 95%. Thought for today: Every year Uncle Earl has a special fireworks show he puts on for the family. It's exciting. And every year, about three-quarters of the way through the show, I have to say the same thing, 'Okay, pick up his fingers and pack them in ice.’ - David Letterman

Thanks for the 4th of July greetings & funnies. There sure are some interesting names for beer! And then there are wines like Two Buck Chuck.

I am sitting typing listening to the Alannah Myles song Black Velvet on my new little MP3 player that actually plays WMA files so I can get twice as many on it. I have never had one of these things but think I'll have good use of it on my RV trip that starts Wed. I have 86 favorites on it that should get me to Moscow, Idaho for the Life on Wheels Conference at the University.

Loved the roman candle weiner dog. We used to have a dachshund named Daisy. Funny, I was going to suggest that you might want to do an entire post just on dachshunds. there's a bunch of videos at youtube.

Moonshine and dynamite! haha Tattoos! haha

A lot of folks are getting hurt by fireworks these days, so be careful and have a safe and happy fourth.

Gotta be careful when they mix the moonshine and dynamite! Not a good combination at all.

Happy 4th!!!

I was here last night, but I didn't leave a comment. I came back today. My daughter loved the virtual fireworks. She took over my computer to play them. I had to fight her to get my computer back. This is a very safe way for the children to set off fireworks. ^5. I had so much fun here last night and today. Thanks!
Have a wonderful 4th!
