Sooners assistant Kevin Sumlin takes over at Houston

Former Oklahoma assistant Kevin Sumlin was introduced as Houston's new coach Friday after agreeing to a five-year deal. Sumlin is the first black head coach in the 60-year history of the program.

Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin will be hired as Houston's football coach, a newspaper reported Thursday. Cougars athletic director Dave Maggard told the Houston Chronicle he was prepared to hire Sumlin on Friday.
