The Congress takes place in Dsseldorf, Germany, on 25-26 January 2007.

Platini is vice-president of the FFF, and a member of both the FIFA Executive Committee and UEFA Executive Committee.

"According to the UEFA statutes, any candidate for the position of President of UEFA shall be proposed in writing to the UEFA Administration at least three months before the date set for the opening of the Congress," UEFA added.
