Overview of Industry

Singapore is a favourite destination for multinational corporations or MNCs to establish regional distribution centres. Singapore's strategic location and world class infrastructure have enabled us to be a leading supply chain nerve centre.

With 23.98 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) handled in 2006, we have the world’s busiest container port with some 200 shipping lines connecting to 600 ports in 123 countries. The Singapore Changi Airport is recognized as one of the best airports in the world and is served by 78 airlines with about 4200 weekly flights connecting to 186 cities in 59 countries. It is also a leading cargo airport, handling 1.91 million tonnes of cargo in 2006.
