What We’re Doing

The Web Standards Project has formed task forces to address specific issues and technologies related to development and standards. Task Forces are led by WaSP members and involve industry representatives and subject matter experts.

  • The DOM Scripting Task Force uses weblogs and face-to-face outreach opportunities to educate developers from all backgrounds about Document Object Model Application Programming Interfaces, especially those centered on client-side JavaScript.
  • The Dreamweaver Task Force has worked with Macromedia to improve the standards compliance and accessibility of web pages produced with Macromedia Dreamweaver.
  • The Accessibility Task Force works with accessibility organizations, technology vendors and others to help promote Web accessibility.
  • The WaSP / Microsoft Task Force was formed in July of 2005 to support Microsoft as the company began increasing Web standards support in its browser and web authoring products.
  • WaSP’s Education Task Force works directly with institutions of higher education to promote instruction of Web standards and standards-compliant public sites.
  • The WaSP International Liaison Group (ILG) is an international collective of web professionals promoting the global use of standards to ensure an equitable Web.

We also helped develop the ACID 2 Browser Test, a test page for use by browser vendors.

What You Can Do

You can help shore up support for standards in our medium by reporting browser bugs and participating in worthwhile campaigns.
