Family Room HD is Cablevision's HD Channel of the Day, as Part of Company's Continuing '45 Days in HD, on iO TV (SM)' Countdown

Ongoing salute to excellence in HD programming recognizes each of the 45 high-definition services iO TV customers receive at no additional cost.

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) December 27, 2007 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. (www.cablevision.com) today is recognizing Family Room HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "45 Days in HD, on iO TV" countdown. Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 722, Family Room HD offers a broad variety of classic programming suitable for viewers of all ages. Featuring perennial family favorites such as March of the Wooden Soldiers and The Muppets Take Manhattan and retro series like Flipper and Thunderbirds, Family Room HD offers a fun-filled escape kids big and small and their parents. All Family Room HD programming has been re-mastered from original 35mm film to 1080i high definition, and 5.1 Dolby® Digital surround sound, assuring optimal family viewing for years to come.

During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 45 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.

  • 11 a.m., ANIMAL ATLAS
Animal Atlas is an entertaining show that explores the world of animal wildlife. It answers all of your animal questions, and gives you a better understanding of how different animal species live and what they need to survive. This series deals with different topics like "Animal Appetites", "Animal Antics", "Animal Babies", and also has shows which focus solely on certain animals such as elephants, bears, and monkeys. In these shows we go on a thorough and entertaining exploration of the specific animal that takes you into that animal's world as we see where it lives, how it eats, how it plays, how the family unit operates, and what threatens and supports its

  • 11:30 a.m., LOCKIE LEONARD
Twelve and 3/4 year old Lockie Leonard is a surf rat and when his family moves to the most remote town on Earth, Angelus, Lockie's convinced that this is a total disaster - no friends, a new school and a house that is truly in danger of disappearing into a swamp. But then Lockie spots the one thing that makes it all okay. This weird little town has the best surf he has ever seen. Based upon the novels by Tim Winton. Filmed on the West Australian coast in the town of Albany.

The classic series about Ranger Porter Ricks, who is responsible for the animal and human life in Coral Key Park, Florida. The series centers on his 15-year-old son Sandy and their pet dolphin, Flipper

Teenager and aboriginal hip-hop artist Jack Sinclair (Bronson Pelletier) and his best friend Zoey Jones (Ksenia Solo) set up an underground efzine called renegadepress.com. What starts as a pet project soon takes on a life of its own pushing Jack, Zoey and their crew of renegade reporters to deliver the goods on what's really going on in the lives of today's teens. Ripped from the headlines, the series' storylines are inspired by real events that have happened to today's youth.

  • 10:00 p.m., THUNDERBIRDS
Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, this classic British television series from the mid-1960s show features a form of puppetry dubbed "Supermarionation". The series follows the adventures of International Rescue, an organization created to help those in grave danger using technically advanced equipment and machinery.

Richard & Son, the New York metropolitan area's leading consumer appliance and electronics retailer, which allows customers to conveniently sign up for all three Optimum products - iO TV digital cable, Optimum Online high-speed Internet access and Optimum Voice phone service - at 35 P.C. Richard & Son retail locations in Cablevision's service territory. Cablevision is also providing its award-winning digital cable service to more than 30 store locations, so customers can experience the best in high-definition programming while they shop for a new HD television set.

Nearly 83 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 360 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 1,800 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 45 high-definition programming services and groundbreaking interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive.
