The ongoing saga at Cagliari finally seems to be at an end as they announce that Davide Ballardini will replace Nedo Sonetti as Coach.
The Rossoblus awful season so far has seen them in chaos, with tactician Marco Giampaolo getting the sack back in November.
Sonetti replaced him, but the more experienced mans inability to turn the clubs fortunes around saw him also being shown the exit earlier this month.
However, Giampaolos refusal to honour his contract and return to the helm left the Sardinian outfit in an embarrassing situation where Sonetti remained for a further match.
Last Sundays 5-1 defeat to Fiorentina did little to change President Massimo Cellinos mind though, and he has now announced that Ballardini will take charge of first-team affairs.
I like Ballardinis skills. Sacking Sonetti was terrible for me but this was the right decision for the club, explained Cellino.
The 44-year-old boss is relatively inexperienced although he has impressed during spells with Sambenedettese and Parmas Primavera team.
He also has previous experience at the Stadio SantElia, briefly taking charge under similar circumstances in 2005 before ironically being replaced with Sonetti.
But with Cagliari sitting rock bottom of the Serie A table and without a win for 11 games he will have his work cut out for him to keep the Rossoblu in the top flight.
