Underground stations: Diaphragm wall and barrette construction is completed for all underground stations at Burjuman, City Centre, Union Square and Al Rigga. Concrete ground slabs and excavation is also well advanced at all stations.
Tunnel: The 2 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM1 and TBM2) are well advanced. TBM1’s run from Union Square to Burjuman is nearing completion. TBM2’s run from Union Square to City Centre has nearly reached Al Rigga with breakthrough into the station envisaged early in September 2007.
Elevated stations: Nearly all the traffic and utility diversion works are complete for all stations. Piling and substructure works are completed at 18 of the 25 elevated stations. Construction of the station at Jafiliya is the most advanced of all the stations where works on the concourse slab and intermediate level is nearing completion. Commencement of steelwork erection is currently planned for early 2008. Works on the footbridges are planned to start in November 2007.
Depot: Road and utility diversions, and site formation works are complete at both depots at Rashidiya and Jebel Ali. Construction of the associated buildings is progressing well. Roof steelwork erection started in July 2007.  Track-laying also started in July 2007.
Main Power Supply Buildings: Construction is progressing very well with civil works nearing completion and E&M works already commenced. Traction power is envisaged to be available in March 2008.
Car Parks: The park and ride facilities are located at Rashidiya and Jumeira Islands stations with 3000 park spaces at each. Construction of the Rashidiya car park is due to commence shortly. The car park at Jumeira Islands is under design development.
