1898.05.20 1st Battalion, Auckland Rifle Volunteers
formed with HQ at Auckland by regimenting existing volunteer units:
 
  • A Coy (Victoria Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 1862 as Auckland Rifle Volunteers; disbanded Oct. 1865; re-raised 15 Feb. 1866.
  • B Coy (College Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 17 June 1897.
  • C Coy (No. 1 Company NZ Native Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 23 Nov. 1897.
  • D Coy (No. 2 Company NZ Native Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 14 Apr. 1898.
  • E Coy (No. 3 Company NZ Native Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 28 Apr. 1898.
  • F Coy (Gordon Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 28 Apr. 1898.
  • G Coy (Newton Rifle Volunteers) at Auckland. Raised 1 Oct. 1898.
  • H Coy (Whangarei Rifle Volunteers) at Whangarei. Raised 10 Sep. 1900.
