Theseare simple scripts written to enhance your web site. I am continually adding to the list as time goes along. If you have comments or suggestions, please mail them to me: scripts@lakeweb.com

The starting Point
Ihave written a page to help those of you that are just starting to write scripts. If you follow the instructions on this page, you should be able to get all your tools working together and get scripts up and running on a Linux server. There is a link to spider's page there for those of you that are working with a NT box.

The Perl Scripts
The Classified Ads   modified 2 Sep 98
Ihave gotten this one to work first on our new server, as it is so popular. A small program that will allow your clients to enter adds into a classified section of your site. It is just like a guest book script but formatted to suit classified advertising.
Thescript now can be set to limit the number of ads so old ads drop off of the list. It also sends the ad via e-mail to the keeper of the ads and the client. I have cleaned this up quite a bit and removed a bug in the mail part. There is a doc.txt in the download to help with your install. Don't forget to check the begin.html if you are having troubles.

Loghits   modified 5 Jan 99
Thisis a small script that will log the visitors to your pages. It will make a great first server side includes to your script project. I have added new information to the loghits.txt. loghits.txt is included in the zip. The info will help with server side includes.
Now Y2K Compliant!

Filemail   modified 12 Oct 96
Ascript that will send the files selected by your client by mail. This is a simple script with on-line documentation. It will make a great first project if you are just starting to write in PERL. Be sure to modify the HTML file that accompanies this project to suite your needs.
This script has been revised 12 Oct 1996. You should not have to modify the script to work in your domain. All the parameters are set in the HTML document. [Download]

The Mail List System
Thisis an expanded version of the Filemail system above. It will allow your client to add their selves to your list server while they get back issues of your news letters. Be sure to look over the fields in the delivery HTML document to set your system up. You shouldn't have to make any changes to the script for it to work.

The Datafeed System
Thissystem is intended for those of you that have a set of data on your PC's database; i.e. Access. You can export your list in a standard text format and upload it to your server where this script will deliver it to your client.
Be sure to read the info page supplied in the [Download.]

The Cookie Test
It is a technical example with subs for handling cookies. No marked up info yet. You may [Download it] though.

Referrer Script
Ifyou want to know if someone is leaving your site with one of your links, this script will log that for you. I would set an example up but it only writes to a log for the administrator of the site to view. There is brief documentation in the download package.[Download it.]

Return Referrer Script
Thissmall script is meant to be called from a Server Side Include. If you have a page that is called from more than one location, it will allow you to have the 'return to calling page' link become dynamic. There is a test page [Here]. You can also call this test page from [the page] that describes this script. And[Download package here].
