FYI...

I haven't abandoned this site, but I have come to really hate the Drupal interface, which is always making me log in. Twice. Also, I can't get it to allow me to embed photos or videos any more. And it's way too open to spammers, which means I have to review all the people who want to become membrs, 99 percent of which are spammers.

I'll be moving NewsTrolls back to the old system once I've finished rewiting the old system, moving servers, and fixing the email list. There is still a point to this site, even in the age of blogs... but it's going to take some retooling to find that point again.

Truth

Barak Obama... That's the truth on Iraq...

A Good Question...

Can Christians be patriots?

"Lindsey (a young evangelical Christian) at Regardant les nuages elaborates the specifically Christian case against patriotism."

More on a recent poll showing Christians to be a minority in the U.S.

A Trap for Christians

Intelligent design catches Christians in contradictions...

"It is a trap designed specifically for Christians and other faithful, to suck them into the denial of modern science without making it immediately apparent that that is what they are doing. It is a trap that sucks those Christians in and puts them de facto on the side of the creationists, rather than leaving them to think creatively about their faith and what role it has in the modern scientific world."

Bombing Al-Jazeera

A British court tries to squelch reporting about a conversation between Tony Blair and George Bush on bombing Al-Jazeera...

"The case dates back to April 2004, when Keogh allegedly photocopied the memo, which bore the Downing Street letterhead and the warning “Secret-Personal” and passed it to O’Connor, who placed in a file which he gave to his employer, Labour Party parliamentarian Anthony Clark. Clark told Downing Street about the leak, but the memo’s alleged contents nonetheless ended up being revealed by the Daily Mirror on 22 November 2005."

Clear Channel

Does the sale of the Clear Channel network make the end of the neo-con movement?

No Video?

One would have thought that professional sports - like the NFL - would be acutely aware of how much its fortunes depend on television coverage. Apparently not.

The Cure?

Is it the cure for baldness? Or another Helsinki Formula?

"A group of American scientists have discovered how to make the skin of laboratory mice grow new hair follicles, complete with hair, by using a protein that stimulates follicle generating genes in skin cells under wound conditions. They hope this discovery may one day lead to treatments for baldness and abnormal hair growth."

The View from Tehran

American policy has focused on advancing America’s own economic interests and military supremacy. Because American strategic discourse has accentuated the role of military, security, and intelligence organs inside Iran, the agents who control those organs have been the main interlocutors for U.S. policy, while other political agents have been marginalized."

Jerry Falwell

It's the end of the line for Jerry Falwell, who has gone to meet his maker - or not, as the case may be...

" Falwell started the Moral Majority in 1979 to organize Christians to be politically active. The group registered millions to vote and advocated for social and moral issues, including overturning the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. The Moral Majority, which disbanded in 1989, was partly responsible for the 1980 election of Republican President Ronald Reagan, said Randall Balmer, a professor of American religious history at Barnard College in New York."
