First Alert Weather Forecast

Snow Returns...In Spots

Tonight
Lows: 30-35

A mix of rain and snow developing tonight, especially later tonight. Wet snow with accumulations most likely near Hood Canal, especially south Hood Canal, over the Kitsap peninsula and from Tacoma south. Accumulations could range up to 8" near Hood Canal, with the heavier amounts near the Olympics. The Kitsap peninsula could see up to 5", while the Puget Sound area from Tacoma south (and the inland hills north of Tacoma) could see accumulations ranging from trace to 3". Conditions are marginal for snow over Central and North Puget Sound; accumulations will range from none to an inch or two at most.

Tomorrow
Highs: 42-45

Forecast Updated at 6pm Monday

An interesting evening ahead. Cool temperatures tonight (low 30's most places) are likely to combine with incoming moisture to produce a mix of snow and rain. Snow is most likely where the southeast winds will drive that moist air up against hills or mountain foothills; that's most likely along or near the south and east slopes of the Olympics, such as over the south end of the Hood Canal, and also over the southern half to two thirdsof the Kitsap peninsula.

The cooler temperatures will still make snow possible over the Sound and southwest interior; the greatest potential for any accumulation in this area will be from Tacoma south and over the inland hills (including north of Tacoma). It's much less likely near the Sound over central and northern Puget Sound, plus the northwest interior.

Warmer air moving over the Pacific will change the precipitation to rain in all areas later in the morning Tuesday. As a cold front moves through late Tuesday, the air could cool enough to permit isolated snow showers on the highest hills Wednesday morning-briefly. Beyond that, milder temperatures should confine snow to the mountains, with areas of rain Friday and Saturday.

Have a good evening!
