About Us

The purpose of the Black Community Development Project is to challenge the marginalisation and oppression of minority ethnic people in the Greater Pilton area of Edinburgh. Its establishment is based on a recognition of racial harassment and discrimination which deters minority ethnic residents from using local services and taking a pro-active role in articulating their needs around service provision.

The Project aims to reduce the dependency of the local minority ethnic groups, to integrate these groups into the local community and to combat racism in Greater Pilton.

Access to advice and information to help improve a system was developed where the minority ethnic community in Greater Pilton has proper access to services provided by local and statutory bodies.

We aim to help improve the quality of life of minority ethnic people, within the local community and address the isolation expressed by them, within the Greater Pilton area.
