Football: Time off energized coaches

It was pointed out often as Bo Pelini assembled his Nebraska coaching staff last month that Marvin Sanders, Barney Cotton and Ron Brown were all out of football in 2007. Nothing overly negative, just questions of what it meant in a profession where it's more rare than common for an assistant coach to miss a season in the midst of his career. Sanders (pictured) said it did more than just refresh him. He learned, became more open-minded, and gained some perspective.

Women's Basketball: Huskers find touch, upset No. 15 Texas

The Huskers survived an opening half where they shot a horrendous 19 percent from the field and scored a measly 17 points to topple No. 15 Texas 56-45 on Wednesday night at the Devaney Center in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Volleyball: Setter Holloway leaves her team, school

Even though the Nebraska volleyball team was going to graduate some of the best players in program history following the 2007 season, John Cook took great comfort in knowing that sophomore setter Rachel Holloway would return to the court for 2008. But now Cook is a coach in search of a new quarterback. University of Nebraska setter Rachel Holloway announced Tuesday she is transferring and will no longer compete in college volleyball.

Recruiting: Harlan's Hoch decommits, Texas lineman takes his spot

Another day, another unusual turn in Nebraska football recruiting. The Huskers lost a longstanding oral commitment from offensive lineman Dan Hoch, right, who switched his pledge to Missouri more than a year after accepting an NU scholarship offer. But on his heels, lineman David Grant of Killeen, Texas, filled Hoch's spot without having yet seen the NU campus.
