Great Charles Street - Draft Planning Guidelines

The City Council has recently undertaken consultation on draft planning guidelines for three sites at Great Charles Street/Lionel Street in the City Centre.

One of the sites, owned by the City Council, was previously identified as a suitable location for a new Coach Station for Birmingham. However, the City Council has now decided not to pursue the development of a Coach Station on this site. As such, the City Council is now commencing the process of remarketing this site for mixed use development assisted by the Planning Guidelines. The guidelines will also be used to guide and inform prospective developers of the other sites.

A copy of the draft guidelines are available to download via the PDF document below. The formal consultation on this document has now ended, however if you would like to find out more please contact:

Or email your comments to carol.grove@birmingham.gov.uk. If you would like a paper copy of the guidelines, please telephone 0121 303 4805.

The comments received during the consulation period will soon be reported to the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and the guidelines amended if necessary.
